Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo has said that he is looking at the possibility of integrating both Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba in the same team. Chelsea managers – beginning from Carlo Ancelotti to Roberto di Matteo – have resisted to using both the strikers on the pitch at the same time. This has been largely due to the formation of Chelsea, which is more oriented towards having a single striker rather than two strikers. During the initial few months after his arrival at Chelsea, Carlo Ancelotti used both of them at the same time with limited success. However, Roberto di Matteo says that he may have found a solution for their supposed incompatibility.

After bringing an end to his 24 hour goal drought, Fernando Torres is back in the reckoning and firing on all cylinders. This has given a selection headache for Roberto di Matteo, who has just seen Didier Drogba play one of his best games for Chelsea in the match against Napoli recently. As a result, di Matteo has said that he may look at the possibility of integrating them into the same team. He has been currently using the 4-2-3-1 formation, but it can be switched into the 4-2-2-2 formation according to the Italian.

“It’s great for this football club, isn’t it. To have that firepower in the team, it’s fantastic. And we will try to do our best to try to exploit the good form of both. It’s going to be tough on anybody I leave out. We have a fantastic squad and it hurts to leave players out of that calibre. It’s really difficult?” he said when asked about the possibility of integrating his star strikers into the same team. The Italian also revealed that John Terry will not be available for the Manchester City match on Wednesday night.
