Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has said that Fernando Torres is a very important part of the Chelsea squad and he would perform well in the upcoming season. Torres joined Chelsea last season, but, he didn’t manage to contribute as much as he would have liked at the start of the season. However, he regained his form towards the end of the season and played well in the UEFA Champions League. He maintained his good form in the Euro Cup and scored three goals for Spain in the tournament. He was given the ‘Golden Boot’ award due to his brilliant performance.
Torres has shown good form in the pre season matches as well. In the Community Shield match against Manchester City, he scored the first goal for Chelsea and Chelsea took a lead in the 40th minute by the virtue of his goal. Though, Chelsea lost that match, but, Torres’ form in the match would have given satisfaction to the Chelsea fans. As per Hazard, Torres is a fantastic player. He brings a lot of power in his flicks and he is one of the most capable strikers around at the moment.
Chelsea’s main striker Dildier Drogba has left the club this summer. Drogba signed for Shanghai Shenhua (a Chinese club). After the exit of Drogba, Daniel Sturridge and Fernando Torres are the only two renowned strikers in the team. So, Torres is expected to get regular chances to feature in the first team in the upcoming season. The manager of Chelsea, Roberto De Matteo, has said that Torres is talented enough to fill in the shoes of Drogba. He had shown the glimpses of what he can do in the later part of the last season. He has been playing well in the pre season matches and hopefully, he would put up some brilliant performances in the upcoming season.
