Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has said that he is confident that he can finally lift the Premier league title, which has eluded him for a long time. The former Athletico Madrid striker joined Liverpool a few seasons ago, but has been unable to lift the Premier league title with his former club. He joined Chelsea in January 2011 for a British transfer record fee of £ 50 million hoping that he would lift the Premier league title. Even though his Chelsea career has been extremely successful in terms of the number of trophies, he is extremely desperate to lift the Premier league title.

The striker has now on the Champions League, FA Cup, and the Euro 2012 in one single season with the club and the national team. He has said that he is very much looking forward to the new season and cannot wait to lay his hands on the title. Torres is expected to become the main striker at the club following the departure of Didier Drogba. The Ivory Coast international has been at the club since 2004 and has not allowed any striker to flourish other than him. His departure could be a major step in liberating Torres back to his old self.

“I would love to win a Premier League. Hopefully it will happen this year, but for sure we will be challenging for it. In my opinion, the equality between the big English teams is at a peak. You just have to look at the way [Manchester] City sealed the title, at the last gasp, and how the team that won the Champions League finished sixth,” said Torres on his official website. Chelsea will be playing key matches through to the campaign in the form of the UEFA super cup and the Club World Cup.
