There are some players in the Chelsea squad that Jose Mourinho is not taking into much consideration and Ashley Cole is one of them. The English defender has only managed to make 13 appearances for Chelsea in this season as he has fallen behind the pecking order in the team.
Cesar Azpilicueta is the preferred choice of Jose Mourinho which has left Ashley Cole’s future out in doubt. Cole has a contract with Chelsea that ends at the end of the current season and it remains doubtful if there will be any chance for him to extend his stay with the Premier League club.
The problem not only relies on the fact that his contract ends at the end of the current campaign but the chance for Ashley Cole to play in the upcoming 2014 World Cup is also uncertain as he faced competition for his place in Roy Hodgson’s starting lineup of England.
Leighton Baines, Kieran Gibbs and Luke Shaw all are players that also want to be featured and taken into consideration for the head coach of England, Roy Hodgson.
“I don’t know. I’m happy with the way Azpilicueta is performing. I cannot think of national teams at the same time as thinking about my team. There are national team managers that are very clear: they go with their players. It doesn’t matter if their players are playing in the club, if they are not playing, they go with their players. All these years as a club manager, I found lots of them like this.” said Mourinho.
Those were the words that Jose Mourinho utilized when he was asked if Ashley Cole was going to play a more vital role for Chelsea in the upcoming few months.
