Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has said that he is enjoying football once more after scoring his first hat-trick in more than two and half years against QPR during the weekend. The £ 50 million striker has been having a difficult time at Chelsea ever since completing his move last January. However, he has been showing signs of recovery in the last few months ever since the appointment of manager Roberto di Matteo. He scored the crucial goal against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final to help his side seal a place in the final of the Champions League. Now, he has continued his impressive form by scoring a hat-trick against QPR during the weekend.
This is the first hat-trick Torres has scored for Chelsea, and it is also the first hat-trick he has scored in almost 3 years. His last treble came against Hull City back in September 2009. The 6-1 victory Liverpool achieved against Hull City brought out the best in the striker. He was once again at his best against QPR by not only scoring the goals, but also creating them as well. Speaking after the match, the Spaniard said that he had always played well ever since making his move to Chelsea, but was unable to get the goals. However, he is now reaping the rewards for his hard work.
“I have had a difficult year. But the only thing you can do is work hard and the rewards have to come – it is time to enjoy now. My last hat-trick was a long time ago, so I am very happy about it. From my first day in English football, everything was really good and looking easy, even though it wasn’t, and I was scoring almost every day. When you work hard you get the rewards so I am very happy,” said Torres.
