Athletic Madrid advanced to the finals of the Champions League after defeating Bayern Munich with an aggregate scoreboard of 2-2 and the Spanish club won through away goals.
This was a fairly surprising result as Bayern Munich were the favorites of coming out on top, especially taking into consideration the fact that the 2nd leg was played at the Allianz Arena in the home turf of Bayern Munich but Athletic Madrid still managed to book their spot in the finals of the Champions League.
